I live, in Haderlsev, in a student's flat for eight people. I share the place with seven girls, all future teachers in their own country. There are three girls from Spain, two girls from Turkey, a girl from Hungary and a girl from Belgium. That makes four different languages and cultures...
We communicate in english of course, with different levels and accents, but we understand each other using, sometimes, gestures...
An important fact when different cultures meet: the meals. The spanish girls are used to eat late (lunch around 3:00 pm, and diner around 10:00 pm). I was used to a danish timetable during a month (lunch at 12:00 am and diner at 6:00 pm), but we managed an agreement for the time of meals and for the food. Sometimes we disagree on tastes, but all in all it is very funny, and very interesting.
During an ERASMUS, you don't discover one culture, but several... Of course you discover a lot about the country you are in, but also a lot with the students from the other countries...
If you are open minded, and interested in other's culture, ERASMUS is made for you...
